The Roy Miller 1967-68 Tennis Team Won Numerous Honors during the school year. Two Seniors Ronnie Flores and Richard “Dickie” Fikes were rated number 10th and 11th in the Seniors Division in the State of Texas. They were also ranked 1st in the Boys’ Doubles. There were two outstanding Sophomore players, Sally Russell and George Moncada. Mary Helen Franco was the outstanding Junior player on the Tennis Team.
In the Inter-City League Tournament, played October 18th
in 1967, Roy Miller Boys’ Team defeated W.B. Ray Boys’ Team in both singles and
doubles for the first time in seven years.
On February 27 and 28 the team defeated their primary rivals – Abilene
Cooper High School, and tied for 3rd place in the Corpus Christi
Invitational Tournament.
