TRIBUTES LEFT ON THE VIETNAM VIRTUAL WALL

Maria Ledesma-Vogel wrote in July 15, 2024 on the Virtual Wall: When my brother was drafted my parents, greatest fear was that he would never return because he was so young, along with the many, many young, drafted soldiers at that time.  He asked my parents if he could marry his high school sweetheart before leaving for Vietnam.  My parents initially said no, and after sleeping on it, my parents became concerned that they may be denying him his last wish.  So they gave him their blessing and gave him a small wedding.  Attached are two photos showing the wedding and them saying a (final) good bye.  We called Encarnacion “Eny”, Eny came home once in November for Thanksgiving after completing basic training prior to leaving for Vietnam.  He returned home in the following March with the flag draped over his coffin.  While it was the most difficult time for our family to lose our dear brother and son (oldest of 7 siblings), we gained a sister, Mary, aka Chita who we are bonded to still to this day.

Annabell Marroquin Swint wrote in March 12, 2013 on the Virtual Wall:   I still remember standing at the airport watching your casket draped with an American flag.  I remember the wailing cries of Tia Paule as she mourned over your glass covered body.  May the Lord and our heavenly Mother embrace in with their love.

Johnny Vasquez wrote in August 12, 2024 on the Virtual Wall, one of my best friends: Eny, when I heard about you getting killed in nam it broke my heart as we were close, as you lived just a few houses from.  I did join the service later that year, but what was sadder was when I came home on leave and that your parents wanted to see me, that was heartbreaking to me as much as to them.  I think about all the good times we had.  Thank you for your Service.  God took a good man.
