HALL OF HONOR MEMBER IN MEMORIAM
C.E. “Buddy” Neubauer passed away December 14, 2018 at his home in
Spring Branch, TX. He was born November
29, 1943 in Mount Carmel, IL to Emma Lorene Neubauer. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Tx, playing football since middle school, and went out for the football team at Roy Miller High School, he would end up being an important member of the Class 4A State Championship Miller Buccaneers football team. The team was regarded as the first racially integrated team to win the Texas UIL crown. He continued his education University of Wyoming Cowboys where he also played football. He also graduated from The University of Corpus Christi.
After graduation he enlisted in the Army, and was
commissioned as an officer at Fort Benning, GA in 1967. He married Deborah Smith of Texas City, TX in
1968, and welcomed a daughter Monica that same year, and then a son Buddy in
1973. His bravery during the Vietnam
War earned him the Army Air Medal and Combat Infantry Badge, as well as two
Purple Hearts. He recovered from his
injuries, and left the army in 1969 at the end of his enlistment with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He returned to Corpus Christi, and started what ended up as a very distinguished career in the oil industry at Coastal
Corporation that ended with his retirement from Valero Energy in 2002.
Buddy wife of 50 years Deborah, son, Buddy and wife Kelly of Katy TX, two grandchildren, Emma and Hayden, cousin, Dale Ford and his wife Betty of New Braunfels TX, cousin, Ruth West-Christy were his survivors. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica. A beautiful Service was held in Buddy's Memory on December 18th at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. Buddy is Interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Tx.
