LILIA GLORIA WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 30, 1945 AND PASSED AWAY ON OCTOBER 21, 2020
Lilia
retired from Del Mar College after 33 years where she was a Professor of
English. After raising her children and
working in real estate, she decided to pursue a college degree starting at Del
Mar College. While at Del Mar College,
she would be awarded with the Distinguished Student Award in English. According to a former Del Mar College English
professor, “Gloria was a star student whom she encouraged to major in
English.” In 1984 she received her
Associate of Arts degree and went on to earn Bachelor of Arts and Master of
Arts degrees from Corpus Christi State University.
Gloria, retired from fulltime teaching in 2008, and continued teaching as an adjunct professor at Del Mar College until 2017. She taught Technical Writing, Developmental English, and English Composition. Faculty and students alike considered her a phenomenal lecturer. She lived her life in a way that inspired many to achieve their full potential.
