HALL OF FAME MEMBER
Freddie Martinez is recognized as one of the single most influential businessmen in the Latin music industry. He started out as drum major at Wynn Seale Academy of
Fine Arts, and was first chair trumpet throughout his school years. By the time he was fourteen is was sitting in as a substitute in Uncle's Orchestra. His Uncle was Ralph Galvan who was well known in the music industry. When he was still in high school he formed the Freddie Martinez
Orchestra and became a professional musician. He started singing and was also played the trumpet.
Freddie was a singer, songwriter, music producer and trumpet player, and was honored at the 2nd Annual Legends of the Tejano Community Awards on May 2, 2018. By this time he was also a recording studio owner, philanthropist and had found success in the world of Tejano music. On his journey to create a name for himself nationally and internationally, Freddie launched the careers of Sunny and the Sunliners, Little Joe, Augustin Ramirez and Ramon Ayala, whom all would become legends. He was and still is a champion of the Tejano community. “I have received other recognitions, said Freddie "but this is a special award because we’re in Corpus Christi, in my community. It means that the people around me, who have known me my whole life, appreciate my contributions to our community.”
Freddie has been inducted into practically every Latin Music Hall of Fame, been given many honors by organizations in the USA and Mexico and has been called "El Embajador De La Musica Tejana," "El Rey De La Musica Tejana," "El CariƱoso," and "The Don of Tejano Music". In August 2019 Freddie celebrated his 50th Anniversary at a star-studded sold-out show at the National Tejano Convention in Las Vegas. We wish Freddie, native of Corpus Christi continued Good Luck and Fortune.
